Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property Introduces AI Technology for Trademark Examination

The Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) has officially launched a new service

utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist in trademark examination,

making trademark registration more convenient, efficient, and accurate.

🔎 Two Core Functions

1️⃣ AI Image Search

✔ Upload a trademark image

✔ AI system analyzes graphic elements and compares similarity

✔ Instantly displays similarity scores

✔ Free to use via the DIP official website

2️⃣ Trademark Checker

✔ Real-time connection to the trademark database

✔ Assists in selecting appropriate goods/service classifications

✔ Evaluates the likelihood of successful registration

✔ Available 24/7 free of charge

📊 Why Is AI-Assisted Examination Necessary?

In 2025 (B.E. 2568),

55,668 trademark applications were filed —

an increase of 8.51% compared to 2024.

A total of 4,484 applications were rejected

due to being “identical or similar to prior registered trademarks.”

👉 The primary issue is duplication or similarity to existing marks.

👉 Pre-filing searches significantly reduce rejection risks and accelerate the registration process.

🎯 Benefits for Businesses

✔ Conduct preliminary checks before official filing

✔ Reduce time and financial losses

✔ Increase confidence before submitting formal applications

💼 Let us handle your trademark registration from start to finish

Even with AI tools assisting the search and review process,

achieving successful registration on the first submission

still requires professional legal expertise and practical experience.
